Hire, Rent, Lease or Buy a Photocopier: Which Is Right?
There are four ways to get a copier: hire it month to month, rent it for 12 to 36 months, lease it for 36 to 60 months, or buy a used or ex rental machine. The right one depends on how long you need it and how much cash you want to spend up front.
How to choose
- If you need it for less than a year, hire it.
- If you will need it for one to three years and want a fixed cost, rent it.
- If it is a core office machine for three years or more, compare a lease.
- If you print modestly and want to own it, buy used or ex rental and ask about servicing.

What is the difference between hire, rental and lease?
Hire is short term and flexible. Rental runs for a fixed term, usually 12 to 36 months. A lease is a longer commitment, usually 36 to 60 months, with the lowest ongoing cost. We quote any of them.
Is it cheaper to buy a used copier?
Over several years a used or ex rental copier often costs less than renting or leasing a new one, but you carry the upkeep. We quote servicing options if you want them.
Can I rent to buy?

Is a lease tax deductible?
Business equipment costs are often deductible, but it depends on your circumstances. Check with your accountant.

Some leases and managed print contracts tie you to the same machine for five years or more. Hire is the flexible way to get a copier, and if it is not right, it can change.
Month to month
Hire for as long as you need the machine, whether that is a week, a month or a year. There is no five year term to sign up to.
Change it if it is not right
If the machine, your volumes or your plans change, tell us. Hire is flexible, so we can swap the model or adjust the arrangement. Ask us what notice applies.
Plain terms, in writing
We quote the machine, the term and what is included in writing before you commit. Delivery, installation and network setup are part of hire.
